I am still suffering pain after having my tooth pulled

I AM STILL SUFFERING TOOTHACHE AFTER HAVING MY TOOTH PULLED. WHAT MAY BE THE REASON?
Today, one of the most common problems faced after the pulling of teeth is a condition named Alveolitis, which translates into the infection of the space left behind by the removed tooth. The infection or traumatization of the space left behind by the tooth leads to infections in the bone marrow canals as well. These types of infections that occur in the bone marrow lead to the development of the condition named Alveolitis. Alveolitis generally occurs in 1-3 days after having the tooth pulled. The healing of the wound that is created by removing the tooth starts with a clot of blood forming within the space left behind by the removed tooth. The loss of this blood clot inhibits wound healing and leads to alveolitis.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF ALVEOLITIS?
- Severe and throbbing pain at the area where the tooth has been removed from - reduced by painkillers
- Foul mouth smell
- Foul taste inside the mouth
- Difficulties in opening or closing the mouth (Trismus)
- Disruption of the blood clot forming inside of the pulling-region

WHAT CAUSES ALVEOLITIS?
- Bacteria that live inside the mouth
- Poor dental care on the patient's side and failure to keep the wound clean after the pulling of tooth.
- A difficult and traumatic instance of the tooth-pulling procedure
- Root, bone residue or foreign materials being stuck inside of the space left behind by the pulled tooth
- Extreme traumatization of the tooth-pulling area by the dentist or the patient and the disruption of the blood clotting process.
- Use of oral contraceptives
- Use of cigarettes after the tooth-pulling operation before the wound has a chance to heal

WHAT MUST I DO IN ORDER TO PREVENT ALVEOLITIS?
- Proper dental care must be taken by the patient, who needs to regularly brush his teeth
- The pulling of the tooth should be carried out in the most atraumatic ways possible
- The patient should avoid smoking for at least 3 days after the operation
- The patient should avoid washing his mouth thoroughly for at least 24 hours after the operation

HOW IS ALVEOLITIS TREATED?
The Alveolitis treatment primarly seeks to alleviate the pain the patient is going through. When the patient consults the dental clinic with a condition of alveolitis, the tooth-pulling area is initially washed with physiological saline solution or mouthwash mixed with Batticon oral antiseptic. This way, the infected wound area can be cleaned. After this, a medicine named Alvogyl, which contains eugenol, is placed into the space left behind by the pulled tooth. These procedures should be repeated until the patient's complaints cease. Painkillers should also be administered in order to relieve patients of pain.
